My thanks go to the previous board for the time and effort that they have spent on keeping the Village of Woodland Hills HOA running and keeping our neighborhood well maintained. They do this without pay and sometimes without thanks from the residents. Right or wrong someone has to make a decision.
On to the meeting.
Last night the meeting was held and went off as scheduled. There was an explanation for the change in management companies by the outgoing president David Robinson and his commentary will be posted if I can get a copy.
The Vote:
Unlike last year, there were enough proxy votes and residents present to have a quorum. From what I could see there were 40 or so people attending and the rest were in proxy and this was enough to satisfy the Florida requirements.
Without going into the details of the actual floor nominations, proxy gathering and the results it would be my suggestion to the new board that the method of proxy gathering be changed for the next election. What happened was entirely legal, but it is my opinion as a homeowner that it needs to be changed and I would love to see residents comment this post to share. The residents that were at the meeting know what happened and the only way to improve the process is openly discuss it and see if there is a better way.
Please share your comments on how the proxy distribution and collections can be improved for the next election.

I AS A BOARD MEMBER ALSO SEE A NEED FOR A LITTLE REVISION IN THE WAY THE PROXEYS ARE GATHERED,I INTEND TO TRY TO PUT THIS ON THE AJENDA FOR THE NEXT MEETING.
Perhaps if a candidate is going door to door to collect proxy’s a 2nd witness needs to be present. It could be a board member that is not running for a seat or another neutral party. Another alternative could be to designate the proxies “for quorum purposes only,” This way only the people that took the time to come to the meeting and participate make a difference. The way it went down I might as well stayed home. The way we have it now does not work.
I IN MY FIRST NOTE WANT TO MAKE IT CLEAR THAT IN NO WAY AM I INPLYING THAT THERE WAS ANY WRONG DOING IN THE WAY THINGS WENT AT THE MEETING, JUST THE FACT THAT SOME HOME OWNERS HAVE EXPRESSED SOME CONCERN OVER THE FACT OF A PERSON ON THE BALLET MITE NOT BE THE RITE PERSON TO COLLECT PROXIES. I WOULD AT THIS TIME LIKE TO THANK MARYSE FOR ALL OF HER HARD WORK AND TIME SHE SPENT IN GETTING THAT DONE.
A complete copy of my comments will be available when the meeting minutes are approved and committed to the record. I can not provide any copies untill the meeting minutes are approved. That is simply the proceedure and not any attempt to withold anythng or cause a delay. Untill approved it is not acceptable to release or print them. These are not my rules, just the rules we have to abide by legaly.
Can someone honestly answer the following questions:
Did Maryse, while collecting proxies, specifically state that the proxy was intended to give her the homeowner’s vote?
Or was it implied that the homeowner give Marsye the proxy ONLY to obtain a quorum?
I have heard from SEVERAL homeowners that they were deceived in turning over the proxy for a quorum only. Granted not everyone knows how these meetings run, but to capitalize on that lack of knowledge IS wrong.
Ed, I disagree with you that what was done was legal. Misrepresentation, concealing, and decieving are ALL acts of wrongdoing and illegal. Don’t you agree?
HOMEOWNERS BEWARE – purposely removing Keith Scully was only the beginning of things already done wrong.
Thank you jen, at the time of my posting i was told by pmi that what she did was leagal, I too have heard alot of negitive comments about what went on.People are not happy. As to your question i do agree.
