Dog Park

At this years annual meeting a vote will be taken on a construction of a dog park in Woodland Hills.  According to the mailer recently received there are 50 or so residents that want one and the board is taking it to a vote. The board has also estimated the cost to be $10,000 to the homeowners in the association.

A few questions that are unanswered.

  • Will dues go up?
  • What will the rules be?
  • Will there be a charge to use the park?
  • Will it be only for HOA members?
  • Will it be a open gate or will it require a key to use?
  • Will it be for private use only and not for dog sitters?
  • How will it look and where will it go? (by the tennis courts in the green space?)
  • Do the neighbors that border it have any say?
  • Do the proxy votes apply to the park vote as well. If so and the Secretary casts the votes, how will they vote?
  • What will be the annual cost to maintain it.
  • Has there been any formal plan submitted?
  • What will the hours be?

New questions:

  • If a dog bites another dog or person will they be allowed back?
  • Will there be an age limit for users?
  • Will there be a ban on dangerous breeds?

These are just a few that I can think of and it is disappointing that none of the details are known at this time, other than lets vote on it.

Let your neighbors know and comment below..most of all show up at the meeting and make your vote count. It will be money out of your pockets that support this so speak out.

There is a poll on the website. Vote Here

There is more to this than “Let’s just have a dog park” and I hope the board does its due diligence or we will all pay.

This is one location that was discussed in a prior meeting. The area next to the Tennis Courts.

Do you want to lose this area?

    **New Questions:
-Will the installation of a dog park require the removal of any trees ?
-Will the community install a water station within the dog run ?

**Would the $10,000 be better served for other projects within the community ?
-Repairing the brick wall in the front of the community, we have cracks and areas that look like the brick is pulling away.
-The brick at the bottom of the Deer Run sign has cracked and separated slightly.
-Installing a pool heater in the community pool. This would extend the pool season for the community and we already have year round pool services.

I would agree, there are better ways to spend 10 grand if we have it laying around. The problem is that is seems people won’t care until after the fact, and then complain.
